It has officially been a month that I have been using Imperfect Foods for the majority of my groceries. I love the ease and simplicity of it, especially the delivery. I live in a rural area that food delivery of any kind is not available so I am jacked about this.
I took some screen shots of the website so you can see how it works and get an idea of the prices. My husband at first was worried about it costing us more a month on food than normal. I wanted to try it out knowing that we could cancel at any time if it wasn’t worth it. I feel it’s still a little too early to tell if we are saving money but I feel like I am. It’s also so hard to tell around the holidays too, since you are buying foods that you normally don’t. Time will tell.
Here is my basket. This is after I had made adjustments to it. You can see the items that I removed, I either can’t have it, like the Farro or didn’t need it that week like the mandarins and carrots. My normal basket is $30 but this one was more because I wanted to try the ground bison they had. Deciding to make some bison burgers, which I will highlight in a later post. With that, I needed to add some hamburger buns for my husband. This is another thing I love too, the packs of buns are smaller, 4 count instead of 8. With myself not eating them, it is such a huge waste for us to buy buns normally. We usually have to freeze them but that never turns out as good after.
The majority of my shopping are vegetables and fruit. I pick between both organic and conventional but you can filter and only choose organic if you want. This will give you an idea of prices, these were very comparable to what we have in our local grocery store. A few items I have selected to add to my basket on every order, onions and lettuce.
I get an email on Friday advising me that it’s time shop and I have until Sunday evening to finish it. Then my groceries are delivered on Wednesday by end of day, usually they arrive before 2 pm.
If you are interested in trying it out here is my referral link, you can get $20 off your order in the month of January when you use it.
